    Must be valid for at least 30 days beyond your intended departure date from South Africa.

At least two blank visa pages are required (not endorsement pages).

2. Visa

No visa required for stays of up to 90 days for tourism or business.

If staying longer, apply for an extension through the Department of Home Affairs.

3. Return or Onward Ticket

Immigration may ask for proof of return or onward travel.

4. Yellow Fever Certificate (If Applicable)

Required only if arriving from a country with yellow fever risk.

Important:

South Africa requires proof of vaccination ONLY if you’re arriving from a high-risk country (even for layovers).

The vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before entry.

5. Customs & Immigration

Declare amounts over $10,000 USD (or equivalent).

Restrictions apply on wildlife products, firearms, and certain medications.

  1. Certified Africa requires travel medical insurance that covers $50,000 or more for medical evacuation and at least $25,000 in medical coverage.

Important Notes

Children under 18 must carry an unabridged birth certificate (if traveling with one parent or alone, additional documents may be needed).
